The Borough has a number of schemes and services designed to help you get around. In addition, a number of national organisations run schemes giving good discounts to older people. These schemes are administered by The Accessible Transport Unit.

The Freedom Pass / Travel Permit (administered by ATU)
Although residents of the Borough with restricted mobility and every permanent resident aged over 60 is entitled to a Freedom Pass, this qualifying age seems to be slowly creeping up. To check your current eligibility, please visit
A Freedom Pass gives free travel on London buses, tubes and trains as well as half price travel on national coach services and local river services. Telephone 020 8831 6312.
However, if you are over 60 and not yet eligible for a Freedom Pass, Transport for London will offer you a 60+ Oyster card which gives you free travel within London.
